RadCalc® offers fully automated verification by utilizing RadCalc AIR (Automated Import & Reporting) functions including RTP Import and V&R export utilities. RadCalc® allows users to import treatment plan parameters directly from RTP systems or export directly to Verify and Record systems thus reducing or eliminating hand entry data errors. RadCalc Program and Available Modules

New TOMOTHERAPY® VERIFICATION MODULE: On March 28, 2018 LSI announced that a new version of RadCalc, version 6.3.5.0, is available. RadCalc clients who have an up to date maintenance renewal are being provided instructions on how to download and install this latest version. Included in this release is a new TomoTherapy® verification module available as a purchasable licensed option for current users or as part of a package for new RadCalc clients. 

RadCalc’s Tomo module* provides support for the following TomoTherapy® TomoHelical deliveries, TomoDirect deliveries, and TomoEDGE dynamic jaws.
RadCalc’s calculations contain prescriptions for documentation purposes, one or more beams as imported from the TPS and RadCalc compares, Time calculations versus imported Plan Time and Dose to multiple calculation points.

RadCalc displays 2D or 3D visualization of imported patient structures, Sinogram, and Individual control points illustrating leaf open times.

The RadCalc process imports plan and structures via DICOM, specifies calculation points if not imported, and computes the dose.

RadCalc's computation method uses measured or modeled PDD and Scp factors, profile data that is modeled via the weighted sum of three Gaussian distributions, and ray tracing that is performed through the structures to determine the depth and effective depth. Each control point is decomposed into a set of finite beamlets with an appropriate weighting such that their summation reproduces the imported sinogram for the control point.

RADCALC BASE PROGRAM: RadCalc® base software program is FDA 510(k) cleared to perform independent dosimetric verification calculations for IMRT, VMAT, CyberKnife, Compensator based IMRT, Superficial, 3D Dose Volume Brachytherapy. Includes Elekta, Varian & Siemens machine support. 

RTP IMPORT MODULE: The Import module provides the importing of treatment field parameters from a Radiation Therapy Planning system, Verify and Record system, and/or virtual simulation software. The interface transfers beam name, gantry angle, collimator angle, couch angle, field size, treatment depth, SSD, treatment dose, wedge information, blocked field area, compensator factors, block outlines, either static or dynamic MLC leaf sequences, coordinates of isocenter & calculation point, and the prescription information. RadCalc reads the above information and then performs the calculation.

V AND R EXPORT MODULE: The V&R Export module provides the exporting of treatment field parameters and Monitor Units in a format that is readable by a Verify and Record system and/or Treatment Planning System. Parameters transferred include beam name, gantry angle, collimator angle, couch angle, field size, treatment depth, SSD, treatment dose, wedge information, either static or dynamic MLC leaf sequences, and the prescription information. User may export plans and calculations to any V&R system that accepts DICOM RT or RTP Connect format files.

IMRT VALIDATION MODULE: The IMRT Validation module provides the verification of MU or point dose calculations for IMRT based treatment plans. The IMRT utility allows you to import from your treatment planning system either static or dynamic MLC leaf sequences. A modified Clarkson integration algorithm in RadCalc utilizes the MLC leaf sequences in order to compute the dose or MU. RadCalc is capable of handling an MLC with up to 200 leaves. The MLC leaf patterns are viewable within RadCalc's MLC Data tab.

BRACHYTHERAPY MODULE: For HDR, HDR (Xoft), LDR, and Permanent Implant calculations. This module makes use of the TG-43 formalism. RadCalc version 6.3 includes 3D Dose Volume Brachytherapy with DVH analysis and customized protocols.

ROI MODULE: This module is used to import regions of interest for the calculation of depths and equivalent paths. It can be used for any type of calculation but its primary use is to obtain a more accurate result for VMAT verification calculations.
