RadCalc 6.0 with BrachyTherapy Module Released for Beta Testing

We are pleased to announce that RadCalc version 6.0 along with the BrachyTherapy Module has been released for beta testing today to members of the beta testing team. After the test period is completed, version 6.0 of RadCalc will be released without the BrachyTherapy Module. We expect this to be sometime in early March 2009. The BrachyTherapy Module will have to undergo the FDA approval process before it can be officially released to the U.S. market. We anticipate this to be sometime in February or March of 2009.

Once FDA approved, the BrachyTherapy Module will be available for purchase to those clients who have upgraded to or purchased RadCalc version 6.0. The BrachyTherapy module will function only with version 6.0 and future releases.

The RadCalc BrachyTherapy module will provide many advanced features. Some of these features include the following:

1. Perform HDR, LDR, and Permanent Implant calculations.
2. Import plans via DICOM RT.
3. Visualize sources in 3D.
4. Create a treatment schedule.

Once the FDA approval has been received, we will be announcing the availability of the BrachyTherapy module with more details via this website and other media.

If you are a current RadCalc user and have an active renewal contract, you will receive an email announcing the availability of the new 6.0 release either by download or by mail. If you DO NOT have an active renewal contract, you will be notified by email or phone and be provided an opportunity to purchase a renewal or upgrade. The renewal or upgrade package must be purchased on or prior to the 6.0 release date which we anticipate being in early March 2009. All clients who have a renewal expiration date on or before December 31st, 2008 should have already received a quote prior to this announcement.

RadCalc version 6.0 will provide a long list of enhancements. Here is a list of some of the key features and benefits of 6.0: Version 6.0 contains a complete overhaul of the user interface making it more ergonomic. We have moved some more repetitive features such as Compute All Beams and ReDo Last Command to more convenient locations i.e. the toolbar and added shortcut function keys to these items and many of the most commonly used features in RadCalc.

The Utilities portion of the software has been redesigned to flow better and make it easier to work with. So setting up your Institution and configuring physics data in RadCalc is even easier than before. Printing physics data reports such as TPR, PDD, and output factor tables has been moved to one common location in order to make it a very easy task to print data table books for your department. This tool also provides a preview of the data to be printed. The printing of calculation reports has also been consolidated. Unapproved calculations, unmeasured diodes, diode trends, and workload reports can all be previewed and printed from one report tool.

We have also added a calculation percentage difference report that provides a bar graph illustrating the percent differences between RadCalc calculations and the treatment planning system. This type of report will be broken down into categories such as photon calculations, total dose calculations, IMRT calculations, electron calculations, and brachytherapy calculations.

Aside from these great features, RadCalc has gone Green it will provide a greater help within your electronic environment. All printouts can now be directly printed in a PDF format. We have also added a print preview for all calculations allowing users to examine the printout before printing it.
