TYLER, TX. June 28, 2002 Lifeline Software, Inc. LSI today announced a nonexclusive distribution agreement with Varian Medical Systems, Inc. NYSE: VAR to offer Varian customers Lifeline’s software for double checking the dose calculations generated by Varian’s treatment planning software products.RadCalc ®, Lifeline’s verification product, is an FDA approved quality assurance software tool for
independent IMRT treatment plan verification.RadCalc ® is a powerful Windows based solution that offers an efficient and automated process for
MU and point dose verification for both conventional and IMRT treatment planning systems. LSI’s President, Jim Dube,
noted : This agreement represents an exceptional opportunity to expand the availability of the only fully integrated and automated independent IMRT and conventional treatment plan verification QA software. Varian’s addition of RadCalc® to their product line compliments their leadership and commitment to provide integrated cancer therapy solutions for their customers. improve patient care.
This distribution agreement enables Varian Medical Systems to help its customers acquire the full spectrum of tools that they need for implementing IMRT,

Varian. Lifeline has come up with a great solution for automating an otherwise time consuming process. A clinician using Varian’s Eclipse™ treatment planning software will be able to import a treatment plan directly into RadCalc® for independent verification via DICOM RT,
said Craig Laughton, CEO of Lifeline Software.DICOM RT is a standard interface used in radiation oncology for
sharing digital image information between different computer systems and medical devices.
